v5.3.4 - Bugfixes

Released 18th of February'24

- Fixed an issue where defeating a Reverse Emperor boss would unintentionally grant the completion mark for that floor's main boss (if applicable)
- Fixed an issue where My Reflection had an unintentional range nerf for all characters
- Fixed a console error caused by the EID mod
- Fixed a console error caused by Dark Rock upon continuing a run after a game restart

- This is an emergency hotfix to correct a save issue which would happen when playing as T Fiend. In extreme instances, this issue could cause the game to get stuck on a black screen when booting.

v5.3 - New save file manager, bugfixes

Released 2nd of November'23

- Rewrote the save manager, fixing a large number of save-related issues. If you have any new issues with save data after this update, please tell us!
- Revolt no longer triggers in the ??? and Home floors
- Gello now automatically targets enemies when used as Tarnished Samson
- Fixed Forgotten's bone club and Spirit Sword swings not damaging the pillars spawned by Broken Pillar
- Added more detail to Tarnished Keeper's left-facing head sprite
- Fixed Tarnished co-op ghosts being floating heads in the Mom's Shadow escape sequence
- Fixed an issue where spam-firing as Tarnished Samson could sometimes cause punching familiars to shoot in an incorrect direction
- Fixed the level not proceeding after entering a trapdoor if a player is holding a boulder
- Fixed punching sprites updating their animation while the game was paused
- Fixed Super Bum not giving higher value to Coin Case coins like other greedy familiars do

v5.2.3 - Epiphany's 2nd birthday, item changes

- It's Epiphany's 2nd birthday!
    - Added party hats for all tarnished characters
- Killer Instinct is now quality 3 (down from 4)
- The tears bonus received from Coin Case now scales better
- Dark Rock changes:
    - Now gives a 1.5x damage multiplier
    - Damage up is now +0.5 (was +1.5)
    - Tears down is now -0.40 (was -0.19)
    - Range down is now -1.00 (was -0.38)
    - Luck down is now -2 (was -1)
    - Speed down is now -0.2 (was -0.1)
    - Spawn chance now scales less with twisted rock level

- TR Judas' shadow clones can now move through the walls of rooms
   - If you try to teleport while a shadow is out of bounds, Judas will snap to the furthest in-bounds position between your initial position and where you were trying to teleport
- Fixed several issues related to TR Judas's deals
- The code for Golden Items has been heavily refactored, squashing many bugs
- Fixed an issue where TR Eden's bonus item unlock would not trigger under certain circumstances, and would be unobtainable
- Fixed an issue where the DSS counter tracking the number of times Debug has been used would unintentionally display the number of times Throwing Bag has been used to bag an item
- Fixed an issue where soul heart characters with bone hearts would receive health when picking up tasty pennies
- Fixed a bug with surprise box and picking up a trinket giving free charges
- Fixed a handful of EID typos
- Fixed the bagged Trisagion synergy for Throwing Bag not working properly

v5.1.2 - Bug fixes, small description changes

- Fixed an issue where priced golden items could be obtained without paying the required price (e.g. coins in shops, hearts in devil deals).
- Fixed TR Keeper being unable to pick up Snapped Ropes trinket.
- Fixed Gello and Cain's Other Eye dealing less and more damage than they should as Tarnished Samson, respectively.
- The Ludovico Technique now works properly as Tarnished Samson with familiars that punch, such as Incubus.
- Several Korean EID entries have been updated for improved correctness/ readability.
- Bad Company's item description has been changed.
- Delirious Die Dispenser's item description has been changed.
- Fixed an issue where rerolling an angel or devil deal item pedestal while playing as Tarnished Judas would make the price revert to its non-TR Judas value
- Updated the syntax and functionality of the "bypass" command:
    - Added a new "character bypass" which can be selected through either the DSS menu or through the command
        - Only one bypass can be enabled at any given time. Enabling one disables the other.
    - Updated command syntax. Valid inputs are now `all`, `characters`, and `disable`.

- The icon indicating that achievements are disabled is no longer shown in the DSS menu if the character bypass is enabled, as the character bypass does not disable achievements.
- The icon indicating that a tarnished character unlock quest is in progress now only renders if the HUD is visible

- Fixed an issue where Tarnished Judas's special deal pedestals would have their prices reset to their regular values if rerolled

- Fixed an issue where the "He Who Casts The First Stone" challenge did not function properly
- Fixed an issue where, upon Lost or Tainted Lost taking a deal that costs health for a golden collectible, the remaining pedestals would not despawn (e.g. Devil Deal)
- Fixed several instances of the "Overwhelming Odds" challenge being misspelled
- Fixed "Generic Boss" Throwing Bag synergy not being able to damage normal enemies due to an oversight

v5.1 - Bug fixes, unlock method improvements, and a few new bags

Released 22nd of August '23

- Fixed an issue where the reroll machine spawned by Tarnished Keeper's Birthright effect explodes infinitely upon paying out
- Fixed an issue where selecting the "Random" character in the Epiphany character menu would cause the fade-from-black effect to trigger too early
- Fixed some ambush enemies not having the proper flag, causing them to do damage to the player when spawning in
- Attempted to fix an issue where TR Samson would occasionally stay red after exiting the Immortal Rage state
- Fixed many Epiphany items not being in Tainted Lost's item pools
- Fixed an issue where Revolt could cause a softlock on the Home floor
- All unlock methods for tarnished characters are now replayable after the character has been unlocked
   - This repeated run-through does not grant any additional unlocks, and purely exists to allow re-experiencing the unlocks
- Sacrifice rooms are now guaranteed to spawn on every floor while progressing through the Tarnished Cain unlock method
- Fixed Blighted Dice losing all overcharge after becoming Broken Dice
- When progressing through the unlock quest of tarnished character, the icon shown on the left HUD is now replaced with the Epiphany door icon, where it previously showed the character's face
- Pedestals spawned by Blighted Dice can no longer be golden
- Fixed character-specific versions of vanilla items (E.G. TR Samson's Brimstone) not being given twice when a golden version is picked up
- Fixed a bug where having either the Burnt Penny or Flat Penny trinkets while playing as TR Keeper then interacting with a sticky nickel would cause pennies to start spawning infinitely
- Fixed golden item pedestals not triggering ambushes (e.g. challenge rooms)
- Fixed Segmentation Fault and Glitched Photo being visible on a pedestal if Curse of the Blind is active
- Fixed Rememberance of the Forgotten from the Samael mod not being protected from TR Keeper's Midas Curse effect
- All characters now have special dialogues for Steven from The Future

v5.0.2 - Hotfixes and improvements

- Slightly changed knockback mechanics for TR Samson's dash and slam, as well as for Throwing Bag. This should fix certain enemies' animations breaking when hit by them
- TR Samson is no longer able to skull smash while in ghost form
- All tarnished character unlocks which previously required playing in hard mode can now also be completed in normal mode

- The unlock methods for the following characters now disable achievements (other than the achievement for unlocking the character itself) while in progress
* TR Magdalene
* TR Cain
* TR Eden
* TR Samson
* TR Keeper

- Unlocking a tarnished character's pocket active now requires all completion marks to be competed on hard mode, whereas the completion marks could previously be completed on any difficulty
- Added a fade from black effect when selecting a tarnished character
- In the Pool! challenge, the player now starts with a extra Ludovico bag instead of having to use 2 breakfast pedestals
- Fixed Epiphany's MinimapAPI icons not being correctly centered

v5.0.1 - Hotfix

Released 1st of August '23

- Fixed the `epiphany unlock` console command being non-functional due to an oversight
- Optimized bitrate of music tracks to reduce the overall filesize of the mod by roughly 30MB
- Removed data for a scrapped non-functional challenge that was accidentally left in the game
- Fixed an issue where characters that don't exist in the Epiphany character menu can be selected by the random character selection if the achievement bypass is turned on
- Amended an entry in the credits



v5.0 - Wave 5 has released!

====== GAMEPLAY CHANGES ======
- Tarnished Samson and his unlocks have been added to the game!
 
- Tarnished Cain adjustments:
   * TR Cain's starting damage and range now match his regular and tainted forms
   * TR Cain has a completely new unlock method that matches our current standards
   * Improved TR Cain's Birthright: it now also improves most bag synergies
- Throwing Bag changes:
   * Throwing bag has now been added to item pools
   * 40+ new bag types have been added
   * Throwing Bag has new stat interactions:
      ~ The Range stat, in addition to the old effect, now also affects how many times the bag will bounce before hitting the floor
      ~ The Tears stat, in addition to the old effect, now also affects the charging speed of the throwing bag 
   * Many bags have gotten revised effects
   * Bagged golden collectibles now count as 2 items while only taking up 1 bag item slot
   * Some stats have been given brand new interactions with Throwing Bag
   * Throwing Bag's bag queue now shuffles upon entering a room (new bag order is displayed as second half-transparent queue under main bag queue UI)
   * Improved EID support for Throwing Bag synergies
   * The sound effect that plays when a bomb is placed in Throwing Bag is now significantly more noticeable
 
- Golden Items changes
    * 20+ new Golden Item synergies have been added for active items that didn't previously have effects
    * The chance for Golden items to spawn has been decreased from 1% to 0.6%
 
- Book of Virtues now has a synergy with itself where the number of wisps created upon using an active item will be multiplied by the number of Books of Virtues that you have
    * This also means that BoV now has a golden item synergy
 
- Added AgentCucco's Damocles API
    * Because of this, Golden Damocles now functions as expected
 
- Broken Dice will spawn Blight in place of pure health ups
     * Blight is an item with no effect
 
- Blighted dice now shares its charges with Broken Dice
    * Losing charges reverts it back to Broken Dice, while still retaining leftover Blighted Dice charges
    * Consuming a golden collectible with Broken Dice gives double charge, allowing the item to be used twice before becoming Broken Dice
    * If the player has The Battery, consuming collectibles with Broken Dice can overcharge Blighted Dice
 
- The passive versions of Damocles, Book of Belial, and Book of Virtues can no longer be seen or interacted with by TR Isaac's inventory limit or Blighted Dice/Essence of Isaac
 
- Essence of the Keeper now converts everything in the room to gold at the cost of luck
    * Items -2, Trinkets -1, Pickups -0.25
 
- Tarnished Isaac's unlocks have been changed
    * Story Cube has been renamed to Chance Cube and has a new effect and unlock method
        ~ Chance to convert enemies in active rooms into pickups with increasing risk of failing. Chance of failing can be reduced by consuming pickups in cleared rooms
    * Empty Deck is a new misc unlock that uses the old effect of Story Cube
    * Isaac's Delirium unlock is now D5, a dice active that rerolls trinkets into other trinkets
 
- True Love changed to a passive item with a new effect
     * True Love new effect: Increases the odds of finding hearts of the same type that you have
 
- Bad Company rework: Greeds bought with Bad Company have increased HP and stage HP, but no longer spawn Hoppers
 
- Three new challenges have been added:
    * Dealmaker - unlocks Coin Case
    * Overwhelming Odds - unlocks Chance Cube
    * He Who Casts The First Stone - unlocks Revolt
 
- Thirty Pieces of Silver has been rebalanced:
    * Now only gives 3 coins instead of 30
    * Damage scaling has now been overhauled
 
- First Page Rebalanced:
    * Is now a single-use active item
    * Spawns an exact clone of your character that uses the same items as you had when you used it.
    * The clone no longer dies when reaching a new floor, and will persist until it is killed
 
- Savage Chains changes:
    * Walking in a single direction for long enough while chained will cause the chains to break 
    * Taking damage will cause the chains to break
    * Your movement is now slightly less restricted while chained
    * Reintroduced in the game
    * Savage Chains has its sprite reworked
 
- "Chains of Pain" has been renamed to "Kin's Curse" and has a new sprite
- Cardiac Arrest's bleeding now removes an extra half heart of bleeding upon losing a heart container (3 → 4)
- The chance for Twisted Rocks to spawn black hearts has been decreased from 60% to 40%
 
- Broken Halo Improvements: 
    * Pit sprite has been updated
    * Can now spawn more pickup types
    * Consistent layouts
 
- The way that the second Cracked Key is given to the player during the Ascent Dimensional Key route has been changed
    * Instead of spawning the second Cracked Key upon entering the Home floor, the key is instead given to you inside of the room where you pick up the Dimensional Key
 
- Cardiac Arrest's quality has been reduced to 3
- Golden Cobweb's quality has been increased to 2
- Tarnished Maggy's bonus heart threshold now shows a ? while Curse of the Unknown is active
- Weird Heart can no longer roll into Golden Hearts, and existing Golden Hearts will be preserved through the reroll
- Old knife has had its sprite changed
- Old knife can be now sacrificed with sacrificial altar
- Old knife now charges slightly faster
- Using Turnover via Void now costs no money
- Prices for Turnover are now separate for each player
- Flat damage bonuses are now affected by character/collectible damage multipliers
- Golden Cobweb now only consistently replaces vanilla flies and spiders; Modded flies and spiders now have a luck-based chance to have the midas effect applied rather than always being replaced
- If a locked tarnished character is selected from the co-op menu, when the character is turned into Isaac, that player now receives a D6 and a bomb to match Isaac's starting kit
- Multitools have now a 2% chance to replace a key (down from 10%)
- Tasty Pennies have now a 2% chance to replace a penny (down from 5%)
- Tasty Pennies can no longer replace coins produced by blood donation machines
- Dark Rock's damage increase has been buffed to +1.5 (from +0.5)
- Dark Rock's quality has been increased from 1 to 2
 
 
====== COSMETIC CHANGES ======
- The title screen logo for Epiphany has been redone
- Tarnished Cain has had his sprites revised and new custom animations have been added
- Tarnished Isaac's stage transition sprite has been updated
- Significantly improved HUD elements' compatibility with co-op
- Added extra Epiphany-related icons for Minimap API
 
- EID Improvements
    * Updated a lot of descriptions, including translated ones
    * TR characters' pocket actives now have different descriptions depending on the player's character
 
- Updated the in-game descriptions for the following items
    * Zip Bombs
    * Capsule D7
    * True Love
    * All "House 2 of" cards
    * House Queen of Hearts
    * ! Card
    * Drawn Card
    * Essence of the Keeper
 
- Shop items spawned by Turnover now create a poof effect
- The DSS menu has been improved
- Throwing Bag now plays a sound when it picks up a bomb
- Added a config menu option to disable Twisted Rock voice lines
- The graphic for Tarnished Judas's broken heart deals has been updated
- A message is now shown if the Tarnished Character menu fails to load

- Fixed selecting "Random" in the tarnished character menu causing issues when Tarnished Judas or Tarnished Eden was selected
- A plethora of bugs involving Golden Items have been resolved due to a partial code rewrite
- Fixed an issue where Dimensional Key would become unobtainable in a run where the Corpse floor generated with Curse of the Labyrinth
- Fixed Turnover not being properly positioned when using the paper display setting and the player has Book of Virtues of Birthright Book of Belial
- Fixed Your Soul and Store Credit not working correctly when playing as Tarnished Keeper
- Fixed a bug where Cardiac Arrest's HUD would disappear when dropping the item even if the player was still bleeding
- Epiphany character API's persistent item giver no longer gives items during the Mines chase due to it causing the player to be unable to pick up the key piece
- Fixed an issue where Old Knife could damage friendly enemies
- Fixed an issue where TR Magdalene wouldn't consume Repentance+ red hearts for her bonus heart mechanic
- Fixed an issue where the player would retain pentashot when starting as TR Keeper and then changing their character type during the run
- Fixed an issue where placed zip bombs could sometimes be invisible under certain circumstances
- Fixed an issue where zip bombs placed by the player could sometimes damage the player in ways that normally placed bombs wouldn't (e.g. brimstone bombs)
- Fixed Fiend Folio's Stud pickup not being obtainable by Tarnished Keeper
- Fixed Throwing Bag being able to hit friendly enemies
- Fixed an issue where key blocks unlocked using a Multitool would respawn upon exiting and re-entering the room
- TR Keeper now has a small delay before he is able to turn collectibles from opened chests into coins.
- Fixed HUD elements for TR characters not rendering while in "The Future" stage
- Fixed an issue where character portraits would not render correctly when viewing them through the Encyclopedia mod
- Fixed the Old Knife item not working properly in co-op
 
 
====== API CHANGES ======
- Added the function `AddGoldenActiveSynergy` to allow custom golden active synergies to be created
- Added a callback called `TARNISHED_PLAYER_INIT` which runs when a tarnished character is loaded at the start of a run
  * This takes a PlayerType value as a limiter and passes `EntityPlayer` as a parameter
  * This callback replaces the previously used charInitFunction property, which has now been removed
- Fixed an issue where certain combinations of hearts would not be given correctly
- If not specified, the red heart container count is now 0 by default
- Additional red heart containers (bone hearts not counted) are now filled by default
- Characters added through the Epiphany API are now selectable via the co-op menu
