Several planned features, mechanics, and more were planned for Epiphany, but were either reworked heavily or completely cut from the mod.

Unused Character Mechanics

Early Tarnished Lost

An early concept for Tarnished Lost was included in Wave 2 as a secret character, only playable via using the debug console. As this version of the character was an early concept, it has since been removed following the release of Wave 3, and the character is planned to be completely reworked upon the release of Wave 6.

Like the other Losts, Tarnished Lost started with flight and spectral tears, but also had a grey heart chained to him, similar to Isaac's Heart. Tarnished Lost was completely intangible and immune to all forms of damage, signified by him being slightly transparent. His heart followed behind him and acted as his weak spot. If this heart were to ever be hit by an enemy, it was be destroyed as it releases 8 large blood shots in all directions. Tarnished Lost gained a considerable increase in his tears stat afterwards, but is no longer intangible and is thus vulnerable to damage. Taking damage in this state would kill Tarnished Lost. If the heart were to touch a pedestal item, it will be rerolled.

Unused Tarnished Samson Moves

Tarnished samson small.png Tarnished Samson had two unique abilities planned for him that were eventually removed.

Dodge

This would have been used as a dodge move which worked similarly to How to jump.webpHow to Jump, being scrapped due to How to Jump's clunky nature.

Endure

Using Killer instinct.png Killer Instinct while idle would've originally put Samson into a state known as Endure. All damage taken during Endure would be converted to filling up the Slaughter Bar, and Samson would perform a slam around him once Endure ended, inflicting the Weakness status effect onto enemies and temporarily making them take double damage.

Using Endure right as Samson were to take damage would've had him parry the attack, taking no damage and performing a large slam that damages and pushes back all nearby enemies. According to the developers, this functionality of Killer Instinct was removed due to the item being far too complex if kept in.

Unused Pickups

Reversed Grab Bag

Reversed grabbag.png

Reversed Grab Bags were Tarnished Cain's original Mega Satan unlock, before being replaced by Multitools in Wave 3. They would've drained all of Isaac's coins, keys, and bombs when interacted with, spawning an item pedestal afterward. The more pickups that were taken, the higher quality the resulting item would be. They were cut and replaced by Multitools prior to release due to community backlash.

Unused Challenges

Primitive Debug

Primitive Debug was a challenge planned to be included in Wave 5 before being cut early in development. All that's known about it is that it would have seen the player as Tarnished eden small.png Tarnished Eden with the effect of Printer.png Printer and Deck of cards.pngDeck of Cards as a pocket active. It was originally planned to unlock Empty deck.png Empty Deck when completed.
