Familiars

Familiars are small, friendly companions that assist and follow Isaac, usually generated by passive items. They can have a wide range of effects, from damaging enemies to spawning pick-ups, to blocking enemy hits, and many other unique effects.

Epiphany introduces 6 new familiars, split between 3 regular familiars and 3 temporary familiars.

Temporary familiars

Golden flies & spiders

Golden flies and golden spiders are special versions of the regular blue flies and spiders exclusively spawned by Golden Cobweb. They replace the normal spiders and flies and enemies hit by them will be afllicted by a Midas freeze effect, dropping additional coins on death.

  A friendly Sheep

Sheep

Sheep are familiar versions of the Sheeps that appear during the fight against Abel, spawned via Woolen Cap. Much like in the fight, they wander around randomly, not directly targeting enemies. Nearby enemies will be attracted to sheep and attempt to attack them, much like Punching Bag, but the sheeps can take damage and eventually be killed. Enemies nearby the sheeps are also slowed.

Shooting familiars

These familiars fire projectiles, or perform other effects as long as Isaac is firing tears.

Old Knife		"It's still as sharp as ever"	Grants a knife familiar that flies forward in the direction Isaac is firing, planting itself into enemies to damage them and give them Bleed. Stabbed enemies have an aura that grants the player +1.5 damage while within it.	2	Defeat Delirium as Tarnished Judas.
Descent		"Embrace the darkness"	Passively creates a shadow of Tarnished Judas that mirrors Isaac's movements. On use, swaps places between Isaac and the shadow, damaging enemies and leaving behind damaging shadowy particles between them.	3	Obtain all Completion Marks as Tarnished Judas.

Wandering Familiars

These familiars aimlessly move around the room sporadically.

Orbital familiars

These familiars orbit around Isaac, usually blocking shots.
