Kagemane no Jutsu is a challenge added into Wave 4 of the Epiphany mod. The player character is a blindfolded Tarnished Judas, who starts with Spoon Bender, 9 Volt, and Proptosis and must defeat The Lamb. Completing the challenge unlocks Thirty Pieces of Silver.

Difficulty

As Tarnished Judas is blindfolded and thus cannot fire tears, he relies on using Descent in order to deal damage to enemies. Thanks to the increased damage of the particles due to Proptosis and their homing properties with Spoon Bender, this challenge can be much easier than initially expected. Additionally, 9 Volt decreases the time needed for Descent to recharge, allowing it to be used much more often.

Strategy

As the player almost always requires Descent in order to damage enemies, it is advised to try and cover as much ground as possible with your shadows and slash as many enemies as possible at once. This can be incredibly strong in 2x2 rooms or rooms with little to no obstacles. Your biggest obstacle in this challenge, aside from the bosses, will be fighting enemies that are separated from the area Tarnished Judas can move around in, such as Horfs across gaps. Due to Tarnished Judas only being able to teleport between shadows if there is ground to stand on, this may leave him vulnerable to enemies. Obtaining familiars can be extremely helpful for this challenge, as they can fight far off enemies as well as deal slight damage to incoming enemies while waiting for Descent to recharge. It's advised to keep your distance from enemies as much as possible, making sure to teleport to areas away from enemies.

It is highly suggested to go for Devil deals in this challenge, as taking deals will increase the amount of shadows Tarnished Judas has and will therefore allow him to cover more ground and create more damaging particles. Angel deals should only be taken if the player does not feel confident with having so many broken hearts.

• Kagemane no Jutsu is the name of the signature technique of the Nara clan in the Naruto series of anime and manga, which allows the user to control and manipulate their shadow, much like Tarnished Judas can with his shadows.
